The pilot's life has its special stresses...Traveling through time zones, exposed to a variety of electromagnetic devices inside the cockpit and in most airports, the pilot, despite the proverbial healthy body, has to cope with a variety of "intruding signals." Until recently, not much was thought was given in scientific circles on the relevance of long-term, "low level" electromagnetic pollution on human performance and general health levels.

In recent years, medical scientists have begun to pinpoint the kinds of biological effects, which may be triggered by extremely low frequency (1 - 100Hz) fields. These are: changes in cell and tissue behavior, in hormone levels, reaction-time of irreversible chemical processes, modification of cell chemistry, alteration in time perception, the inhibition / enhancement of cell de-differentiation. Other effects involve the DNA, transcription process, and male sterility, impact on the immune process.

It appears some of the effects can be either beneficial or negative to human well-being, often depending upon the frequency of the outside electromagnetic signaling. The "good frequency" range is the one in which the living systems have evolved under for untold generations, which lies between 7 and 9 Hz. It is related to the magnetic resonant earth/ionosphere cavity pulsations and to the pulsating flux, also at near 8 Hz which reaches our planet for the Sun.

The basic theory as to how extremely low frequency (ELF) and ELF-pulsed higher frequencies (radio and microwaves, for example) can do what they do is that the external magnetic fields may control biologic spin-spin proton-proton coupling constants in DNA, RNA, RNA transferases and hydrons.

Back to our generally healthy pilots...They have to contend with, and continually fight-off intruding electromagnetic signals with the result that bodily imbalances show up as irritability, headaches, low energy, jet lag and general malaise.

The challenge to a number of medical scientists in recent years has been to design simple, portable, reliable, durable devices, which could shield active people with fields that resemble as closely as possible the natural pre-high technology era earth/Sun magnetic fields, even in the face of a surrounding pollution. A number of designs have emerged in recent years, some in the form of cigarette package format containers hand have been distributed, for example to diplomatic corps in some Western nations since the late seventies.

The state-of-art device is now available as a "Teslar" (the watch that protects) device in which the special, solid-state micro-chip sensor and controller are connected to the battery and the free-running quartz timing in analog and digital watch mechanisms. The chip assures the conversion of the watch's electromagnetic vectors into longitudinal waves peaking at near 8 Hz range.
