What types of utilities can you most accurately locate?
All types, depending on depth, size, length, and soil conditions. Example: in Florida where we have mostly sandy soils, ground Penetrating radar and electronic frequency locating is ideal. Back to Top

What types of underground utilities are the most difficult to locate?
Depending on the method used to locate the target utility/feature.If the target utility is of a conductive source we would use electronic locating or ferris metal locating techniques. If the target utility or feature is PVC, fiberglass, concrete, clay pipe, poly, etc. ( non-locatable) we would use ground penetrating radar. When using GPR, there are variables involved. size of the target utility/feature, depth, and soil conditions. clay soils and salt water being highly conductive distroy the radar signal. Back to Top

I'm digging in my yard, can you tell me where the underground utilities are?
YES, most of the underground utilities in your yard are of conductive source we would use electronic locating. However your sewer, water, irrigation, and in some cases your gas lines may be non-locatable using electronic locating methods. We would recommend using a combination of electronic locating and Ground Penetrating Radar Back to Top

I called the one call center in my area, how long should I wait before I can start digging?
Calling the One Call notification center is your first step to digging safely. and you must wait a least 48 hours before starting your digging project. In Florida a locate request is valid for 30 days. If your project is going to take longer, simply call your One Call Center and have the ticket updated a least 2 days before the locate ticket expires Back to Top

My crew was digging on the R.O.W. and they exposed a utility, what should i do?
Your crew should stop digging, and identify the utility, then you should call the One Call Center in your area:

If you know the identity of the utility you could call the facility owner yourself and request to have a technician come out and mark the utility.

Some Facility Owners are not One Call Members, they do not know when a company is digging. Laws are being passed to help you with this problem.

Make sure when you call the One Call Center in your area that they recorded the correct information INCLUDING the correct grid for the area in which you are excavating. Back to Top

I'm preparing a site for construction, some of the Facility Owners are not sure where their utilities are placed, what should I do?
Some utilities are privately owned and it would be up to the property owner to have these facilities marked.

In other situations, Facilitiy Owners may not know where their utilities are placed below the ground. Some water, Sewer, and gas lines are tough targets to find. Give us a call, we may be able to help you. Back to Top
