The Harp Consorts, Harp Part

William Lawes' Harp Consorts (VC062): General Editor, Jane Achtman. Harp Part Editors, Maxine Eilander, Cheryl Ann Fulton, and Stephen Stubbs. The Harp Part includes a preface by Dr. Fulton, which discusses the type for which Lawes intended his music. The harp part of the first 4 Consorts was edited later in the 17th century, after the composer's death: material from the violin part was added to the harp part to fill out the right hand part. Our edition restores the original harp part and provides a reconstructed part for the sixth consort, for which no original harp part survives.
