Two Doucaine Sonatinas: Tenor instrument & Keybd.

Christopher Wicks is an organist and composer living in Oregon. Among his compositions for many voices and instruments, often to be found on YouTube, are these Sonatinas for the doucaine - the "c" should have a cedilla which this website apparently lacks - an early type of tenor oboe, composed for a friend who plays this instrument. The range (from c below middle C to the g a twelfth above middle C) makes these pieces accessible and delightful on instruments such as the tenor viol, cello and bass clarinet, or an octave higher on tenor or bass recorder, treble or bass viol, or viola. Each is in three movements, moderately rapid, slow, and quite fast. Tuneful, and with sprightly accompaniment on piano (for today's instruments) or harpsichord or fortepiano for "early" instruments such as the viols and recorders. Score and parts in treble and alto clefs, and a transposed part for the B-flat clarinets.
