Of the twelve cantatas in this volume, one is for violin and viola (or 2nd violin). Seven are for Violin I & II, and the remaining four are for "two violins unisoni," so they could be performed with only one instrument. Telemann did not explain why he had deviated from his announced intention to provide 72 cantatas for voice and TWO instruments. Seven of the cantatas are for alto, four for soprano and one for bass voice.
